Sora and Riku passed each other in the hallway, giving each other a quick smile and a glance before they moved on. Sora couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but he was getting a strange feeling around Riku lately, not really a bad one, but something strange. He thought about it more as he headed to his next class. It was almost like the feeing he used to get around Kairi, but he immediately shook the thought out of his head. First of all, he didn’t even like Kairi anymore. And second, Riku was his best friend. Why would he feel that way about him?

Riku had the same strange feeling as he headed to his next class, but he knew what the feeling was. He thought of Sora and blushed, trying to figure out how he was going to tell him.

After school, the two friends met up. “My mom doesn’t get home until later, so wanna come to my house and finish our homework?” Riku didn’t want to pass up the chance to be with Sora, or finish his homework early. (He usually procrastinated until the last minute.)

When the boys reached Sora’s house, Sora took out his key and unlocked the front door. They both walked inside, dumping their belongings to the side as usual. Sora and Riku took out their assignments and finished their homework at the kitchen table. They quickly got through all of their subjects, both being hard studiers (Riku just didn’t have the effort), and soon both were conversing and laughing. Sora told the story of how that day in the cafeteria, Axel almost choked on his pudding and it went up his nose. Riku had fallen out of his chair and was now rolling on the floor with laughter. Sora, giggling, helped him up and they went upstairs, headed for Sora’s bedroom.

Once they were there, Riku shut the door behind them, hoping his plan would work.
